Requesting Exceptional Leave

The Governing Body, following the Local Authority’s regulations, permits the headmaster to authorise up to ten days absence with the following conditions:

• that there is at least 95% attendance in that academic year;
• that the request is genuinely an exceptional circumstance and one-off request;
• a form to request special leave is available from the School Office.

Please note that the headmaster may not authorise requests where the reasons provided include reasons such as cheaper flights and so on; exceptional circumstances usually include bereavement or severe illness. Holidays in term time disrupt your child’s education and reflect on the school’s nationally-published results.

Music lesson exams are always authorised.

We aim to send you confirmation confirming the status of your application within five school-working days.
