ICT is about enabling everyone to be successful communicators and active members of a global society through the creative and innovative use of technology,  When we engage in creative projects we challenge our thinking and understanding of the world.

ICT is alive and well at Raglan!

ICT safety information on the Childnet International Site may be found: here, a website for keeping up with children on the internet and how to deal with risks safely.  It is published in conjunction with Childnet and the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

There is also CEOP’s children and Young People programme; Thinkuknow, is used in our school and schools nationwide to educate young people about how to stay safe online. iMac Suite
We have a iMac suite with 30 iMacs and a high-quality promethean Activ board.  We have lots of hardware including digital blue cameras, control and monitoring hardware and much more. We have a commitment to teaching children to be conversant with both pc’s and Apple Macs.  Help for working on the Apple Mac

Classrooms
Each classroom has a large Promethean interactive whiteboard with full sound and integrated video/DVD system.  These are all fitted with the latest short-throw and very bright lenses.  Each classroom also has its own digital camera and every teacher has a iMac. 

Music
IT is also alive and kicking in music. Music is often recorded, digitized and movies made and editing in the Design Suite using GarageBand.

Paperless School
All staff e-mail and we try to use electronic communication as much as we can.  We have a secure area on our website where all governors and teachers can access different school documents and resources.

Art Studio
We also use an interactive whiteboard in the art studio.  We teach children to use Adobe Photoshop Elements, a piece of software usually taught at secondary-school level. Adobe Photoshop Elements Site

ICT Mark
We are in the process of applying for the ICT mark, a nationally recognized award for excellence in IT.

Digital Voting
We have a complete set of digital voting handsets and software.

Wii
We use a Wii for some games and revision in the Great Hall.

Nintendo DS
We are piloting a scheme using Nintendo DS for maths training.

Managed Learning Environment
DB Primary is an exciting new Learning Platform which we introduced last year. This aimed solely at the Primary education sector bringing together the best in the latest learning platform and social network technologies. It provides an excellent introduction to learning through ICT in a simple and easy to use way suitable for young and very young learners as well as teachers! DB Primary gives our learners the tools they will need for safe on-line interaction outside the classroom. Our pupils can access DB Primary on our school website. DB Primary

Cashless System
Raglan is one of the first schools in the borough to trial a new Cashless Payment System which allows parents to login to a website and pay for school trips and lunches.  Parents will also be able to see the choices their child made took for lunch.
