Y4 visit to the Geffrye Museum

Despite the snow and rain, Year Four managed to visit the Geffrye Museum in Hackney on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th January. The children were there as a part of their design project “Take a Seat”. They studied and sketched beautiful chairs from differing historical periods and were shown how different styles were made.

Back in school each child will design and make their own stylised miniature chair. Year Four also had the opportunity as part of their Eco-Schools project to visit the newest part of the museum where a recycling exhibition has just recently opened. The children were fascinated to see chairs made from newspapers, recycled safety belts and plastic detergent bottles.
