Year 4 Travel Back in Time

A photograph of some Year 4 children modelling typical Tudor clothing during their Hautbois visit.

Year 4 travelled back in time to the Tudor period to extend their knowledge of the trials and tribulations of living 500 years ago. Music and dance from that time was a key theme in the activities and the children were most surprised by the sound of bagpipes which were very popular at the Tudor Court.

All the children had an opportunity to dress in “authentic” Tudor costume and found it to be cumbersome and heavy as opposed to their contemporary clothes. They nevertheless danced with enthusiasm some Tudor reels which needed plenty of energy and timing. The children overall decided that they were very glad they did not live in Tudor times, especially when they heard about the general lack of bathing facilities.
